Ultrasound, also known as sonography, used sound waves to see inside the body to examine the internal organs. Ultrasound does not emit ionizing radiation; therefore, it is considered very safe and painless for everyone, including children and pregnant women.
Ultrasound-Guided Thyroid Biopsy
An ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy uses sound waves to help locate a nodule or abnormality within the thyroid and remove a tissue sample for examination under a microscope. The procedure is less invasive than surgical biopsy, leaves little or no scarring, and does not involve exposure to ionizing radiation.
