Exam Prep Information
Please follow the specific instructions from your physician for any exam preparation required. The following are general exam prep instructions. Contact us or your physician if you have any questions regarding preparation for your exam.
Fluoroscopy
Barium Swallow
- Nothing to eat after midnight
Upper GI Small Bowel
- Adult: Nothing to eat after midnight
- Infant: Nothing to eat 4 hours prior to the test
Barium Enema
- Follow the instructions on your bowel prep
- Nothing to eat after midnight
Arthrogram
- No preparation necessary
Ultrasound
Abdomen or Aorta
- Nothing to eat or drink 8 hours prior to exam
Renal, Thyroid, Scrotum, Carotid Duplex, Venous Duplex, Transvaginal Only
- No preparation necessary
Pelvic
- Drink 32 ounces of water one hour prior to the exam. Do not urinate until after the exam.
CT Scan
With IV Contrast
- Nothing solid to eat 4 hours prior to the appointment time. Please drink plenty of fluids throughout the day before and after your appointment.
With IV and Oral Contrast
- Please begin drinking your contrast 2 hours prior to the examination. Do not eat or drink anything else once the contrast is started.
Without Contrast
- No special preparation
